Bantwal: Farooq murder - Police fire at accused, one arrested, two escape

Bantwal, Oct 24: During the wee hours of Saturday October 24, the policemen fired at the fleeing accused in Farooq murder case and succeeded in arresting one among them. Two others however, succeeded in evading arrest and running away.

Bantwal rural police sub-inspector Prasanna, and one of the murder-accused, Khaleel, were injured in the incident. Both stand admitted into a hospital.

Khaleel and his two accomplices, who are accused in the murder of Farooq which occurred at Melkar the previous evening, were proceeding towards Bengaluru. The police, who came to know about this, chased them from Bantwal. On reaching Gundia, Khaleel suddenly attacked the police team with a dagger. Bantwal town station police sub-inspector Avinash, fired at the accused.

Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Laxmi Prasad, had formed a special team to detect and arrest the murder-accused in the case. Police sub-inspectors Avinash and Prasanna, were on their job. When they were about to take into custody the three murder-accused, the accused attacked the police. The police fired at the accused in retaliation and succeeded in arresting injured Khaleel. Hafiz and another accused succeeded in escaping by running towards a hillock.

Uppinangady police inspector Eraiah, is taking measures to arrest the two accused who escaped.

It is gathered that Khaleel is a dangerous criminal who had been named as main accused in several cases including communal clashes. He was often seen leading disturbances which occurred at Kalladka. His name is in the rowdy-sheeter’s list of Bantwal town station. His externment was recently ordered relating to the incident of attack on Ratnakar Shetty at Kalladka recently.

    if it is known that they were proceeding towards Bengaluru, why chase from behind... why can't next police station be informed and they can be stopped...

    Hafiz and another accused succeeded in escaping by running towards a hillock. ... why they were not shot... they could have been shot and arrested...

    how can police be attacked with dagger... why they did not fire and prevent the attack... if police had gone to arrest murderers in the wee hours, all of them supposed to carry loaded revolvers and keep them ready for...

    Most of the GOVT servants are incompetent in their assigned tasks because they are all from BACKDOOR entry by a local politicians !!! Police they are not polished their skills over the time and even they doesn't know how to handle it or use it when the time comes. The above news is a classic example. Its just like any other TV serial or TAMIL movie

    How come such rowdy sheeter get bail and roam freely?
    How a person can attack police with a dagger if they r chasing in a vehicle? It looks like they rchssingcriminalson foot? Something fishy. How two can escape when one was injured in attack. Why the police did not fire at other 2? How they can escape in a hillock? Some film shooting?
