Panaji, Oct 23: An NGO 'People for Animals' has written to the Colva police station seeking to register a complaint and conduct immediate investigations on dhirio, a violent bull fighting held in a field at Benaulim, on Sunday, October 18.

According to sources, as soon as the match begun the stronger overpowered the other and left dead. However, the owner denied the allegations and said that the bovine had gone into a comatose and recovered later and was sold into a slaughterhouse.

A letter from 'People for Animals' read, "Research has shown that people who wilfully abuse animal are at a statistically significant risk of committing physically and emotionally violent against humans too."

"The practice of dhirio is illegal as per the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960. Moreover, the practice was banned by the high court of Bombay at Goa in the People for Animal vs state of Goa case in 1997. This decision has also been upheld by the Supreme Court," the letter read.

The organization has strongly demanded an investigation end to this menace.

Very sad to know :(. Animals kill for need and here humans are killing for greed.
Stop killing animals. They also have feelings and emotions.
