Sep 19: DK records 432 new corona cases, Udupi 215; six deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 19: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday September 19 recorded 432 new cases and five deaths, while Udupi witnessed 215 new cases and one death.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 19,754 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 4,529 are currently active. A total of 1,35,924 samples have been collected so far, out of which 1,161,170 are negative.

As many as 14,748 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 404 on Saturday. A total of 477 deaths have occured so far, including five on Saturday.

Among the 432 new cases, 187 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 128 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), 98 are primary contacts, and 119 are under investigation.

Out of the 432 cases, as many as 194 are from Mangaluru, 68 from Bantwal, 47 from Beltangady, 71 from Puttur, 13 from Sullia and 39 are from outside DK district. As many as 206 of the 432 patients are asymptomatic.

All the five patients who died on Saturday had comorbidities. While Mangaluru reported three deaths, Beltangady reported one, and another death was of a person from outside the district.


Udupi

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 7,758 people are in COVID hospitals/care centres, including 66 fresh admissions on Saturday, while a total of 7,333 people are in home isolation, including 149 new on Saturday.

As many as 13,621 people, including 311 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation so far. These include 6,863 from hospital isolation wards, and 6,758 from home isolation.

A total of 93,528 samples have been collected so far, including 1,054 on Saturday, out of which 808 are COVID suspects and 93 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 78,240 have turned out to be negative, including 858 on Saturday, and 190 reports are awaited.

As many as 15,098 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 215 on Saturday, and 1,337 cases are currently active. As per the district bulletin, 140 deaths have occured so far, including one on Saturday.

Among the 215 new cases, 121 are in Udupi, 50 in Kundapur, 35 in Karkala, and nine from outside the district. Among them, 98 acquired the virus through contacts, 68 have ILI, three have been diagnosed with SARI, and 45 are under investigation. One has domestic travel history. As many as 103 out of 215 cases are asymptomatic.

The person who died on Saturday was a male aged 52 from Udupi. He suffered from comorbidities as well.
