Mangalore Customs celebrates Independence Day

Mangaluru, Aug 15: The officers and staff of the Customs Commissionerate, here, celebrated the 74th Independence Day.

Imamuddin Ahmad, Commissioner of Customs, Mangaluru unfurled the national tricolour in the premises of the New Custom House, here. He highlighted the importance of Independence Day and also remembered the freedom fighters and head Havaldar of Customs who lost his life recently due to COVID. In his speech, the commissioner emphasized the importance of Atmanirbhar Bharat and motivated the officers to use indigenous products. He congratulated and motivated all the officers who were discharging their duties and furthering 24*7 clearance in the docks, air cargo, airport and other formations including Karwar, CPUs in the present pandemic times and directed each of them to take full personal precaution during their duties and effectively ensure timely clearance of export-import cargo and passengers.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a large congregation for the Independence Day celebrations was avoided and social distancing norms were followed.
