Bantwal: Soorikumeru church felicitates highest scorers in SSLC examination

Bantwal, Aug 12: Soorikumeru St Joseph church held a programme on Wednesday to felicitate the students who secured the highest marks in the recent SSLC examination.

Puttur Sudana Residential School student, Shalan Ria Martis (96.48%), Puttur St Philomena High School student, Janish Shrajan Martis (92.96%) and Balavikas English Medium School, Mani student Jason Lasrado (91.68%) were felicitated on behalf of the church.

“The sincerity and hard work of these students of our parish have brought reputation to our parish. It is an honour for sincere service in the church. The achievement during the difficult times of coronavirus is commendable,” said parish priest Fr Gregory Pereira.

The parish pastoral council vice-president, Elias Pereira said that the achievement of the students brought reputation to the parish. Convent head, Sr Nancy conveyed her best wishes. Student Ria’s parents Steven and Rashmi Martis and student Jaison’s parents Benedict and Severine Lasrado praised the hard work of their children.

Benedict Lasrado was appreciative and thankful for the support toward education by the parish priest, Fr Gregory Pereira, former vice-president of the parish pastoral council, Roshan Boniface Martis and pastoral committee. Student Janish expressed her opinion.

Rashmi Martis, teacher and mother of student Shalan Martis said that the support for education available in the church should be available in all churches.

Soorikumeru St Joseph English Medium School headmistress Sr Lovita, committee convener Steven Pais and Anita Martis were present.

Parish pastoral council secretary Mary D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. Roshan Boniface Martis compered the programme.
