Mangaluru, Aug 12: The birth of Lord Krishna, believed to be the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, is an annual Hindu festival celebrated as Janmashtami or Gokulashatami. It is usually observed on the eighth day or Ashtami of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravan or Bhadrapad.

This year, virtual Janmashtami celebrations began on August 10 for the little kids of Shakthi Residential School, wherein they were asked to fill in colours for Krishna sketch and to dress up like Yashoda Krishna.

Grade 3 and 4 students dressed up as Bala Krishna and also participated in the Krishna drawing competition.

The students of grades 5, 6 and 7 used their imagination to depict the Krishna Bala Leela, sang Krishna Bhajan with their family and decorated a Bansuri. Decorating a dahi handi with the family was an interesting task given to the students of grades 8 and 9 along with a dance competition and painting competition on Krishna Leela.

Maximum students participated with great enthusiasm and made the event very colourful and memorable.
