Mangaluru: AICTE sponsored STTP series inaugurated at NMAM Institute of Technology

Mangaluru, Aug 12: The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (E&CE), NMAM Institute of Technology, NITTE organized an online Short Term Training Program (STTP) series on 'Advanced Topics in Machine Learning and Applications in Engineering and Technology' sponsored by AICTE, New Delhi.

The first STTP is on 'Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning (Linear Algebra & Probability Basis)' being held from August 7 to 13. The second STTP is on 'Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning (Statistics and Neural Basis)' being held from August 14 to 21. The final STTP in the series is on 'Advanced Topics and Applications of Machine Learning' being held from August 31 to September 5.

The inaugural function of the STTP series was held online on August 7 at the NITTE campus. N Vinaya Hegde, president, NITTE Education Trust, congratulated the department of E&CE for receiving the funding from AICTE, New Delhi toward the conduction of this STTP. He wished all the participants effective, successful and productive sessions. Dr Ashok Rao, former head of the Network Project at CEDT, IISc, Bengaluru was the chief resource person for this event. He highlighted the importance of learning mathematical background to understand the concepts of machine learning. Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, in his presidential remarks, stressed on the importance of machine learning in engineering and its interdisciplinary nature.

Dr Rekha Bhandarkar, head of the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the convener of the STTP welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of machine learning in the current context. Dr Subramanya Bhat, organizing secretary briefed about the focus of the STTP and introduced the chief guest. Dr Roopa B Hegde, associate professor, compered the programme.
