Sullia: Pickup driver ferrying cattle injures police while attempting to escape

Sullia, Jul 16: Sullia station police inspector accompanied by station staff tried to intercept a pickup vehicle illegally ferrying cattle in a violent manner at Jyothi circle, Kasba village on July 14 at 2.45 pm. However, pickup driver Karike Mane and Coorg district resident Abdul Farook (45) in an attempt to escape from the police drove ahead with the vehicle and injured the police personnel.

The police personnel who chased the pickup saw a suspect stopping the vehicle near the residence of a person named Dayana and entering inside. Dayana allegedly closed the door of his residence and aided the suspect.

Suspect Abdul Farook has been arrested and swords and other goods were confiscated from him. A police case under section 353, 307, 212, R/W 34 IPC and 11(1)D PCA Act 1960 sec 25(1N) of Arms Act 1959 and other sections have been registered against the suspects.
