Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 15: On Wednesday July 15, public in the district thronged to market and shops in large numbers and did not maintain the vital social distance to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection for which the lockdown is announced in the district from July 16.

Though it is clearly stated by the district administration that shops will be open from 8 am to 11 am on lockdown also, public of the district seems to be under panic and is rushing to buy and stock things.

Huge crowd of people was noticed in Kadri market in the city. People were seen not maintaining social distancing at all.

Dakshina Kannada district is going under lockdown from 8 pm of Wednesday, July 15 to 5 am of July 23. However, the district administration has relaxed the lockdown from 8 am to 11 am every day for people to buy essentials.

Private vehicles are completely banned by the district administration during the lockdown period.

This lockdown is not last, several lockdown is going to be implemented this year once in every 2 months if covid is getting out of control. .if they managed to control the inflow of people from other states and abroad through a tight gate somehow mass spreading of virus could have been prevented. Am not saying we should not allow our own people from other states and overseas who are struck but they could have controlled it through limit. They are also our people we can't ignore them
What happened here was they did a non stop evacuation leading confusion and non arrangements of quarantine center and facilities.

I personally feel that the phase to conduct lockdowns is over. Lockdowns were necessary in March-April when covid-19 was not widespread across the country. It's now meaningless to have 1-2 week lockdowns as, after the lockdown ends the transmission of covid-19 will continue where it had stopped. We are just pushing the inevitable forward by having a 1 week lockdown. Our focus should be improved testing. I strongly believe that lockdowns would only have been helpful if we would go on a strict 3-4 month lockdown(which for sure ,is not possible or ideal).

People blame administration for Locking down, but i will tell it is because of careless behavior of many people in-spite of knowing gravity of situation. Now blaming authorities for locking down is nonsense.Yes v have voted govt has to manage then what is our responsibility ? Not obeying govt orders ?

utter nonsense decision by the district administration. Lockdown will not benefit at all.

The politicians are amassing money even in the purchase of equipment and medicines for coronavirus.

They could have bought more testing kits and done more tests house to house and prevent the spread rather than opting chaiwala type brainless tactics like lock down.

This BlueJP has spoilt the whole country. Does not know how to manage economy and now worst when it comes to Pandemic

Let us all bang utensils till they break

The DC could have put some police force in places where people would crowd to maintain distance.
    No. not bothered at all.
See the central market area, jeppu market and grocery stores and supermarkets.

This lock down announcement brought more people together, breaking all covid-19 safety measures, and adding to the spread for sure.

Lockdowns, the world over, have proven to be boneheaded, short-sighted, ham-fisted kneejerk reactions in an atmosphere of breathless mass hysteria.
