Assessing the need and by the encouragement of the local leader Prabhakar Shetty Uppadka, former taluk panchayat president, Snehalaya team was inspired to take up the work. With the support of the kind-hearted donors, the renovation work got completed in just 45 days, using steel frames for roof, tiles, plastering and fixing doors and windows.

While handing over the house to Nonayya Poojary the trust also presented the family with a symbolically encrypted portrait, 'There is a reason to smile- A home by Snehalaya'. Through this beautiful message, the MLA appreciated the social work by Snehalaya and said that everyone has a special incident in life, to get motivated to do social work. Joseph Crasta, managing trustee of Snehalaya had begun his charitable journey after he witnessed a lady, drinking water from drainage.

There is a lot of happiness in doing such exemplary works by giving back something to society, Poonja said. He further said that the Snehalaya Trust has done praiseworthy work of providing housing to Nonanyya in his constituency and admired their commitment. He assured his support and good wishes to Snehalaya team. He also gave a call to continue more such activities in this area.

Prabhakar Shetty Uppadka explained the plight of this family, the fear of those living in the house as they had almost lost all hopes in life. At this juncture, Gods own angels through Snehalaya came for the rescue who presented the beautiful house and brought a smile on every face, an indication of happiness.

Joel Mendonca, taluk panchayat member, the unit head of Snehalaya Santhosh D'Souza, the chief advisory of Snehalaya Geo D'Silva and the trustees of Snehalaya were present during the inauguration.

Geo D'Silva compared the event with a welcome note and gave the introductory remarks. He gave a gist of the journey of Snehalaya in the past 10 years.

Joseph Crasta spoke on this occasion and said, "A humble start during the lockdown, initiated by Snehalaya has to lead us into taking up more humane activities and especially housing for the underprivileged, and this is an example among such programs. We were moved by Nonayya’s living conditions. We received great support from our kind-hearted donors. Without their help, support and guidance, we would not be able to complete this house. At present we have five more projects going on and all are in the completion stages."

Concluding his message, Joseph Crasta thanked all the donors and everyone who supported the mission.
