Mysuru, Jul 10: In the midst of people who become desperate or depressed on coming to know that they have been infected with coronavirus infection, and some others who tend to develop suicidal tendency, an 85-year-old grandmother from the city smilingly accepted the reality, went to the hospital, had no complications whatsoever, and recovered earlier than her younger family members. Besides remaining cheerful and confident, she also instilled courage and confidence among the others from her family.

Sometime back, the family of Mohan residing at Ittige Goodu area here had received a Tamil Nadu-based relative. After learning that this relative had tested positive for coronavirus, the other family members got themselves tested and found that Mohan and five other members of the family had become victims of the infection. Immediately they were admitted into a COVID-19 district hospital.

Mohan said that the main worry of the family members was about the 85-year-old lady as it is well known that aged people suffer more from this disease. He confessed that the next oldest member of the family is 60. "We went to the hospital with worry. The grandmother smilingly said coronavirus cannot do anything to her," he recollected.

The grandmother remained cheerful and did not suffer from any symptoms of this disease. "She encouraged us to remain cool and confident, and helped us to recover fast," said Mohan, son-in-law of the lady.

Mohan, however, said that they could win over coronavirus but it was hard to win over the confidence of neighbours. "As they tried to keep us away, we had to avail of the police help to enter our home. It took a few days to win over their confidence," he said.
