Former chancellor of Bangalore Archdiocese Fr Anthony Swamy passes away

Bengaluru, Jul 9: Fr Anthony Swamy A S, parish pPriest of St Theresa’s Church, Kolar Gold Fields, Kolar, passed away at Sagar Apollo Hospital in Marathahalli in Bengaluru last night. He was 61.

Fr Anthony Swamy, a former Chancellor and PRO of Bangalore Archdiocese even while being the parish priest of St Francis Xaviver Cathedral when the Emeritus Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras was the Archbishop of Bangalore.

A most dynamic priest, he had served in different parishes in the Bangalore Archdiocese, notably as the Rector of St Mary’s Basilica, Shivajinagar, and earlier as the Parish Priest of the parishes of TC Palya, where he was instrumental in building the St Antony’s Park as a pilgrim centre and also in the parishes of Uttarahalli and Rayapura.

Funeral details will be announced later, according to information from the Archdiocese.
