Udupi, Jun 6: “Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has been making irresponsible statements against Muslim religion and Muslims repeatedly these days that are not conducive to her position. She should immediately withdraw those statements, apologise to Muslim community and tender her resignation,” stated Udupi district Muslim Okkoota in their collective demand.
The decision was taken by the Okkoota in an interaction meeting of community representatives at Nejaru Jamia masjid.
“Ordinary people are facing acute problems in Udupi due to Coronavirus pandemic. The state knows the way the MP responded in the situation. As an elected representative, to hide her failures, she is making unfounded, derogatory and low level allegations against Islam religion and Muslims.”
“She has made another statement in Udupi on Friday as Tablighis are spreading Coronavirus. It is most irresponsible, false and provocative statement. The propaganda by Shobha, her party leaders, Sangh Pariwar and their supporters that Tablighis have spread the virus in the country is proved false. The allegations are proved as false.”
“Lockdown violations are conducted by all over the country without discrimination of caste and religion. There are several reports of pooja programmes, fares etc violating lockdown regulations. We have seen several reports of Shobha’s party leaders, chief ministers, ministers and MLAs violating the guidelines. Muslims have strictly adhered to the guidelines and refrained from community Namaz, Juma Namaz for the last three months. They have cooperated without going to mosques even during Ramzan and Eid. They have distributed food, meals and other items to all the community members. Udupi district Muslim Okkoota strongly condemns the MP’s dangerous attitude and irresponsible statements.”
Shobha had forgotten what she should do as people’s representative. She does not know to get recognised by development works. Her politics is based on spreading hatred. She is notorious of spreading unrest in Uttara Kannada by chain of lies. She is known for providing false information to union home minister,” stated Udupi district Muslim Okkoota.
