Social distancing rules flouted at minister Sriramulu’s programme

Bengaluru, Jun 3 (IANS): In complete violation of government norms in place to contain the spread of coronavirus, Karnataka Minister of Health and Family Welfare B Sriramulu took part in a mega rally organised to welcome him to Chitradurga district on Tuesday.

The minister's visit to Chitradurga district turned out to be controversial as the opposition Congress cited purported videos of him moving without a mask and physical distancing amid frenzied supporters.

"Minister of Health Sriramulu has violated the Central government's lockdown guidelines," a state Congress spokesperson said in a tweet.

He said multitudes of people moved around without a mask and physical distancing and questioned what former MP V.S. Ugrappa was doing when these violations were occurring.

In the viral videos which emerged on Tuesday, several Sriramulu supporters showered petals on him without wearing a mask and not maintaining physical distance.

Amid chants welcoming and praising the minister, a giant garland made of apples and other fruits was lowered around his head.

Donning a white robe and an orange scarf, the minister waved at his supporters, and acknowledged their cheers.

Incidentally, on Tuesday morning, Sriramulu tweeted: "It is our duty and responsibility to wear masks in public places.

In his visit to the district, the minister also visited Chitradurga Periyeri Datta Peetha Math.

All efforts to control COVID19 Virus spread get wasted from this event. B Sriramulu should held accountable for virus spread.

Instead of calling him Health Minister we need to call him as B Sriramulu virus spread minister.

Maintaining social distance and taking care of Corona is for poors and labors only and politicians are free from these reistrictions. Police will take action if 2 to 3 dovotees gather in any place of worship . Howev ever, they behave as silent spectators on the gathering of thousands of people during minister visit. These irresponsible politicians are reason for spreading corona and public should teach them lesson as police will not do anything.

Sriramulu is our Health Minister and is from a valmiki caste which is having a substantial influence in state politics. This Minister is quite powerful and our CM may not take any strong action against him for flouting the social distancing rules. Rules are meant only for us, ordinary people. Jai Hind.

Every thing is fair in Politics and power. He is supposed to be our State Health Minister and look at the unacceptable behavior. If they are setting rules, they should be first ones to follow it. So here is how it works. Sriramulu's rally flouts Govt rules. DV Sadanand Gowda travels from Delhi & does not follow Govt rules, but then Govt immediately changes rules to safe guard him.
So dear citizens what you have to gather is : We are expected to do and practice as they preach and say & not as they practice. It is simple rule.
Just imagine if this person was from any non-ruling party, there would have been so much hue and cry about it.
So CM Saheb, kindly look into these issues and take appropriate actions, lest we will be leaders in spreading dreadful Corona virus in our state.

In the past public was not that educated but they used to elect educated leaders. Now people are more educated but they elect uneducated leaders with few exceptions. We can see this from top to bottom in the government.

This man being health minister has crossed all limits and he has no knowledge of the portfolio he is heading. How can we fight the pandemic when such people are at the helm of affairs?

This trend of electing these type of leaders has cost the country in many ways. Unless there is a change in people's thinking our country cannot progress the way it should be.

People need to elect the government based on the performance.
