Four new coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada, 73 in Udupi on Jun 1

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 1: As many as four coronavirus cases were recorded in Dakshina Kannada while 73 cases came up in Udupi on Monday June 1.

Among the four cases in Dakshina Kannada, two are men aged 27 and 50 and two women aged 24 and 45. The 24-year-old woman had come from Bahrain to India and travelled from Pune. She was tested positive at a private clinic. The 27-year-old man works for airlines and had come in one of the special flights on May 20. The 45-year-old woman from Beltangady was tested positive as she is suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). Her source of infection too is being looked out for. The 50-year-old man had travelled from Gujarat.

The new four cases takes the total number of positive cases in Dakshina Kannadadistrict to 137 out of which 74 cases are active. As many as 56 people have been discharged and seven deaths have been reported. 

In Udupi, as many as 61 from the 73 had travelled from Maharashtra, four are District Armed Reserve (DAR) personnel, and three have come from Dubai. The source of infection of rest of the five patients is yet to be ascertained. 

With this the total number of positive cases in Udupi district has raised to 260 out of which 195 cases are active. As many as 64 people have been discharged and one death has been reported.

    Our state government not woke up still the route cause of the corona spread and the solutions for that.

    I think udupi need 2 weeks total lockdown before situation is out of hands. From green zone for two month to top five coronavirus infected district is no joke

    Most of the cases are asymptomatic.. india may already have sizeable number of corona infected people.. only tested cases are reported now..so corona virus may not effect most of the people.. but yes social distancing, self care is necessary but not the complete lockdown

    The number of samples drawn tested and positive and negative report and pending report may give true picture. The discharged picture must show whether they have to go for home coraintain
