Sullia: Stopping Kerala youth from entering Karnataka - Constable attacked

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Apr 4: Because of the apprehension about the spread of deadly coronavirus infection, the border roads of the district with Kerala have been sealed. In a related incident, unidentified youngsters from Kerala pelted stones at and attacked police personnel on duty at the border.

A police constable attached to the town police station was injured in the attack. He was provided treatment at a hospital. Sources said that a gang of youth which came from the direction of Kerala tried to enter Karnataka. The policemen deployed at the border stopped them. The gang then pelted stones at the police and escaped, leaving one constable injured.

Karnataka has blocked its borders with Kerala because of the fear of coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, no vehicular movement is witnessed at the border. Kerala government has already approached the Supreme Court seeking to allow vehicles to pass through the state border. The Supreme Court which took up the application on Friday has issued union health secretary certain instructions on the possibility of arriving at an amicable agreement.

The Supreme Court has said that a meeting of chief secretaries of the two states should be held and the matter relating to the possibility of allowing people needing emergency medical treatment into Karnataka should be discussed.

Like other states, Karnataka has blocked the roads connecting Kerala to stop spread of coronavirus infection. The issue has now taken political overtones and Kerala high court has already directed the central government to direct Karnataka to open its borders with Kerala. Karnataka government has made preparations to challenge this order in the Supreme Court.

I feel that it is high time that Kerala realizes what COVID-19 is and it's effects. They must stop acting like vandals and instead work out a different solution to the problem. What is the use of so much literacy? I highly recommend that the government should impose lockdown permanently on karnataka-kerala border for ensuring the prevention of spread of disease at this crucial time.

Policemen are guardian's of Law.It is expedient that people respect them and obey them as they are only doing their duties.

Hope the persons responsible for this crime are caught and dealt with as per law.

Ramesh, everyday I notice your full support to Kasargod. I'm guessing you are one of them who has settled in Udupi. I'm a Congress supporter. And at this moment, don't bring politics in between. You somehow fail to understand because even the other day I have explained to you that kasargodians, each and everyone from kasargod can carry /transmit corona at the moment. They will not have fever or throat pain or any other symptoms but will give it to everyone They come in contact with. So even that ambulance driver who looks healthy can have corona. Mangalore itself has got 12 cases. More will be there.

It is not good to block people from Talapady although we are belong to Kerala state. We still defend on Mangalore. Our church is under mangalore. we speak kannada tulu and konkani. All students go to mangalore colleges. we know only hospitals in Mangalore. So now being in India why this state borders. we are one. vande matarum. we are Indians. Humanity...

Mr steevan please understand the the situation now people in mangalore are panicking looking at the condition in Kasargod. We are not yet prepared if the pandemic strikes mangalore. On top of this we cannot risk the chances of it spreading by allowing kasargodians enter our state. Now anyway all collegea are closed and no church's conduct mass so there is no significant reason to open the border. Once the pandemic is not in a serious threat we will open the borders. You people should not be so dependent on mangalore for everything education is understood but medical can be provided by your state also

i don't know that Karnataka Govt. or Kerala Govt. politicizing on border issue. We all know that people are suffering. We need business from Kerala people. Students comes to study in Mangaluru and they stay and spend money in Mangaluru but now the situation is different. Please do do politics in this. Once the situation gets better, all will be fine. Please allow regular patients who has Medical records just allow them. This student is educated why can't he understand it's a LOCK-DOWN everywhere. Why he has to travel?. We know that Our Cops knows to deal very well.

Oh anil. What if that same person is a carrier of the virus and not showing symptoms. What if the person accompanying the patient is a carrier. What if the ambulance driver is a carrier. Should we send them to you house. Will you take responsibility for infecting medical staff of a hospital and the other patients in that hospital who are already suffering thus ensuring Thier death. Educate yourself about corona. Everyone from outside mangalore from kerela is a potential carrier of the virus without symptoms also. We cannot take the risk.

The borders are closed only temporarily to stop virus..... as kasarakode is highest virus affected area.... to stop the sreading the boarders are closed...but once viruses stoped they are allowed as usual....
    Kerala shouldn't politizise it...
If they doing this type of nonsense then karnataka government should act strictly and seal the borders permanently...

How dare they attack, intimidate, throw stones at our police men ??? The dangerous truth is that these elements are very well entrenched in Dakshin Kannada district !!! Malayalam has replaced Kannada, Tulu, Konkani language's !!! This is very apparent when we notice numerous Kerala registered vechile's and Malayalam language plastered all over the city !!!

Yes, perfectly fine. If you want we can organize that. This is actually a win win situation for us as well as Kerala. They wanted Kasargod, we gave it. They have been neglecting the region and I hope the ppl have realized their mistake for supporting merger with Kerala.
If everybody goes back it will at least pave way for better attention to Kasargod development by the Kerala administration which claims to have the ' best ' Health facility. Also, it will reduce the commercialization of health services here in Mangalore and the quality will go further up.
