Mangaluru: State border opening - Mithun Rai challenges Kerala HC order

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 3: Dakshina Kannada district youth Congress president Mithun Rai, said that he has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court's (SC) appellate jurisdiction through his counsel, Anand Sanjay Nuli, senior advocate of SC. Rai has challenged the order passed by Kerala high court asking the central government to open Kerala's border with Karnataka.

People of both Karnataka and Kerala states are well aware that coronavirus pandemic has been spreading through the people travelling from Kerala to Mangaluru and then to Karnataka. Opening the border automatically poses serious health hazards for the citizens of Karnataka.

Rai said that he is of the firm belief that Kerala is quite a developed state and has all the necessary medical facilities to handle and treat the patients there instead of making them travel to Mangaluru.

"So, the border with Kerala has to remain closed. We cannot let people of Karnataka suffer. Being fully aware of the current situation I will stand by this cause and will continue to fight against wrongs with all my might to save my people of Mangaluru and Karnataka," Rai asserted.

Yaar u don need einstine brains to understand such a silly matter. One rotten apple can spoil the whole basket of apples. What is the whole agenda behind social distancing, it is not to create discremination but to avoid get in direct contact with the virus. Look at the world, all the countries have isolated themselves from incoming flights or any other means like cruise etc. So why can a state close its borders to protect its people. I am wih u people of karnataka being a malayali i salute ur decision to close borders. Who the hell is supreme court or any other court to decide anyones or any states fate or destiny. We made them judges not gods. I pray that all states close borders and only permit vehicles with food and medical supplies to go through for help and support of weaker states. Last but not the least, an advise to all politicians, do not take this carona calamity as an advantage to make ur money and fill ur treasury with the relief funds. Trust me this is the time of test for all of us from god. Keep ur greed aside and for once do something FOR THE PEOPLE. BY THE PEOPLE AND OF THE PEOPLE. GOD HELP US.

Just imagine if it was the other way around. Kerala would have violently ensured that Kannadigas dont cross the borders. Lives would have been lost too in the process.

Nawaz - Easy to sit in Beijing and talk and preach. Come to Mangalore and see the ground reality along with the rise in number of cases oc Covid19 patients. What is Kerala CM doing since Feb 2020? Sitting and just eating peanuts is it? Its high time to action on his words and not just blabber to what comes to his mind. Mangalore citizens are no fools unlike Keralites. Better to set up medical facilities, mobile check up points, convert ur big kalyan mantaps to refuge stays for needy, convert trains to isolation wards, convert ur house boats to isolation wards. Herr we are all together and also taking care of Kerala neighbors who are staying in Mangalore. Go and check ur data.. half of the patients in mangalore hospitals are keralites.. we have sympathy but rather not push it even more further, especially at this point. Central govt. Too has intervened and told to close borders, sea ports and airport (both foreign and domestic). It is utter foolishness of Kerala CM to ask us to open borders. Would he have done it if it was the same with Mangalore citizens? I am sure all of you would have done the same thing as what we are doing and which is to stay safe and close the borders.

Cynthia - We have nothing against Keralites. This crisis and situation is being faced the world over and Spain is a classic example of their govt. Keeping their borders open in the early days and we can all see how Spain is suffering. Kerala CM should first understand a simple thing which is "The Virus doesn't move, people move it. Hence, if we stop moving, the virus stops moving, the virus dies, its that simple". So its better we follow social distancing with self isolation and respect the situation in both sides and its high time Kerala CM learns from rest of India and starts implementing some medical infrastructure work and stop this foolish harassment.

The corona detection ,reporting, tracking and quarantine/ isolation of the Covid patients is far better in Kerala when compared to others. That is why the affected number seems high there. This rule applies here too... consider that Mangaluru and Kasaragod close family members. Now we have to think and apply the same logic here, like what i mentioned in the beginning...let them keep distance from here..If you have concern of the human beings please show it now dear...if medical help is required our authorities definitely do the needful. Only movement is taken care of. Dont be selfish. For your kind information, as per the reliable source, one of our prestigious temple is providing food packets to and around Kasargod who are in need of the same for three times... vehicle comes from there for collecting the same. Nawaz, it's been 10 days since the lockdown. The existing hospitals knowing the urgency could have hired doctors to treat people for heart attacks, asthma attacks, dialysis units, deliveries. Equipment could be orders and set up in this urgency. Since the hospital already has existing rooms, that could have been converted to critical and trauma units. Why are you people still waiting for mangalore. Stop complaining. Your city and people should do something and stop crying for doors of other cities to open when all it takes is to hire a few Dr's to manage such situations. You people are doing nothing at the moment, your state is doing nothing for you too. Atleast at this point you should realise that things are not going to get better and try to set up something instead of crying that more people have died because mangalore has blocked us. What are you'll doing for your people. Help them instead of abandoning them.

In kasargod virus the spreading like fire because of your people only. None of them are obeying the LOCKDOWN orders and are simply not taking this issue seriously that is why kerala govt imposed double lockdown in the district.

Look at Cochin, tiruvantapuram, kottayam, kannur all are well developed ask your CM about your district. Yenepoya has already given 5 dialysis machines and 5 experts to kasargod so that their patients may get their treatment. You call us selfish why is kannur closing their borders from kasargod? Kannur is not in karnataka it is in kerala only and you call us selfish?

Maybe you don't know the meaning of selfish. In kasargod there is a hospital which is already built and is ready to operate but have not yet since a long time now ask them to do it so that all of you can get treated. Now if you talk about your rights of getting treatment remember even karnataka has the right to keep the border closed to restrict the spread of deadly diseases. Dear Nawaz from Beijing ,
You have a valid comment. Dear , corona epicenter is Wuhan in Hubei province of China , but you were quite safe in Beijing without much infection in the same country. Why ? why ?
It is just because the Chinese authorities just sealed all borders of Wuhan and Hubei province to stop the spresd of the virus. Literally they stopped air , road and train services from Hubei to the rest of the country. They allowed all their countrymen in that province to suffer for their misfortune, Otherwise it was beyond their control to stop the pandemic.

Various states in India are in lockdown to combat the crisis..In such a situation requesting the government of Karnataka to open its borders in particular and hospital doors in general is ridiculous.

Taking undue interest in the widespread virus and its impact all over the world. The government should try to treat the people within his parameters and not inflict more virus by bringing people of Kerela to Mangalore or Manipal. It is an apathy to know when the many NRI's have contributed to build better hospitals and healthcare services in the GCC Why they've not developed educational institutions & healthcare services in their own hometown ???
