Kundapur: Complaint registered against Saudi-returnee for violating home quarantine rule

Kundapur, Apr 1: Kota station police personnel registered a complaint against a person who had returned from Saudi Arabia and was avoiding the mandatory 14-day home quarantine for people who arrive from abroad.

The incident took place on Wednesday, April 1. Sastan Gundmi village resident Zeeman (20) had returned on March 18 after visiting his brother in Saudi. He should have undergone home quarantine for 14 days after his return. Locals had complained to the police that he was going about without remaining at home.


Nithyananda Gowda

Kota station inspector Nithyananda Gowda and staff Raju along with Jayaram were on duty near Sastan fish market when they found Zeeman arriving there in scooter without wearing mask. They saw the quarantine seal on his hand when they stopped him and questioned. A complaint of violating home quarantine orders despite knowing about it was registered against him at the police station.

Anxiety among local people

People are worried that the person who should have been in quarantine has been going out without remaining at home. They have urged police to take strict action against such people who are returning from abroad and spreading the pandemic in this manner.

Strict action

Kota police station inspector Nithyananda Gowda and team have maintained strict security in the police station limits under directions from the deputy commissioner. The police inspector has used loudspeakers on his vehicle for creating awareness. The action has received wide appreciation.

Police personnel along with the respective gram panchayat task forces have taken special action against illicit liquor dealers.
