Shivamogga: Monkey fever claims another life

Shivamogga, Mar 31: A farmer from Hosabeedu in Bandyakukke gram panchayat in Thirthahalli taluk lost his life to monkey fever, which is also known by the name, Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD). He breathed his last on Monday March 30 at KMC Hospital Manipal.

The farmer, identified as Devadas (62) was admitted into the hospital four days back, and he was diagnosed with KFD. As his health condition had shown improvement, the hospital was preparing to discharge him when he suddenly lost his life. The health department is putting together information relating to this death.

With this, monkey fever claimed its second victim from the taluk in a week's time. Monkey fever has taken away eight lives since January this year. The fever has spread over several taluks in Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada districts and 11 are under treatment in different hospitals.
