Abu Dhabi, Mar 29: Mangalore Cup 2020 (Season-8) cricket tournament and Mangalore fest was held on February 28 under the auspices of the MCC (Mangalore Cricket Club) at Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium ground, here.
Yahya Abbas MICCO Logistics Abu Dhabi Ports inaugurated the event, he said, "Time a player of promise emerges on the horizon, we might temper our excitement at his talent and potential with that pertinent question of Napoleon: Yes, but is he lucky?."
"This tournament will enthral the true cricket aficionado. It is also a big platform to exhibit talent at the international cricket pitch," he added.
Matthew Boucher CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket (ADC) witnessed Mangalurean cultural event and cricket match. He had congratulated MCC for organizing excellent community cultural event and expressed his pleasure to host the Mangalurean community at International Cricket stadium.
During the presentation ceremony Ronald Pinto managing director, Hyssna International addressed the gathering, he shed light on the MCC history and milestones. He applauded the dedication and hard work, cricket passion of MCC president Latheef KH.
Walter Almeda managing director, Regal Furnishing and Storage System congratulated all the participated teams. He said, "Winning or losing part of the game and he appreciated MCC efforts to bring all the community and sports enthusiasts under one platform." Queen Victoria award winner Safe Line Group of Companies managing director Aboobackar Kuttikol admired the Mangalorean fest full-day event, especially incredible cultural program organised for the kids and also appreciated the coordinators of the cricket tournament. MCC president Latheef K H Kakkinje honoured the guests and sponsors with a memento. Sahil Zaheer RJ 98.3 FM flew all the way from India as an MC. He had succeeded in maintaining the energy of the crowd until the last moment. Saif Speedline Freight Forwarding LLC, Riyaz UBC and Shalimar Group India, Nooruddin project manager Bindarai group, Mohammad Mansoor Crosswind, Ali Wajeed Al Kabar, Althaf Sumtech Group, Sachin Brodway, Anwar Suhail Al Mazroui, Suster Steps and Strings Mohammad Mansoor Ujire, Akram managing director Al Sitara Group were honoured during the event for their contribution for making the event successful and maintaining a special bond with MCC. As many teams from places across the United Arab Emirates participated in the event. All the participating teams played to their best of abilities keeping the scores and spirits high. ‘Steps and Strings’ Music, Dance, Arts and Events Institute's children performed a dazzling cultural dance. 'Dance India Dance' fame Salman Yusuff Khan was the celebrity judge of the day. The addition of throwball tournament in this season attracted more flocks. Cricket match and the kids' dance went hand in hand with the huge applause from the crowd.
Eleven warriors Rising Strikers once again emerge as victorious and crowned as champion of champions at highly prestigious Mangalore Cup at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi by defeating Reliable Cricket Club by seven wickets, to make it 2 out of 3. Reliable Riders team made 43 for 5 in four overs, Eleven Warriors achieved the target in 3.2 overs, final was watched by a huge number of spectators who were present on the stadium.
Trophies/Cash prize: Event trophy winner’s outstanding performer’s details: Winner – Eleven Warriors Rising strikers - Winner trophy and a cash award. Runner up – Reliable Riders Runner-up trophy and cash award. There were many trophies in the following categories - Man of the Match award in each league matches, best bowler, best Keeper, best Fielder, best all-rounder, best catcher. Free health checkup at the stadium for the spectators and teams.

Mangalorean Cricket Cubs successive eighth season was full of action and excitement. Eminent social workers and NRI Business conglomerates were present during the presentation ceremony. Prize distribution and winding up ceremony was blissful with many delegates. MCC board members and executives were present on the occasion. Sahil Zaheer RJ, 98.3 FM compered the programme.
