Congress sets up task force to fight coronavirus


New Delhi, Mar 28 (IANS): To step up the fight against coronavirus in the party-ruled states, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, here on Saturday, set up a task force.

"The Congress president has constituted a task force to intesify the efforts of the party governments in states to deal with the grave situation on account of Covid-19," the party said in a statement.

The task force include senior leaders like P. Chidamabaram, Jairam Ramesh, Tamradhwaj Sahu and Veerappa Moily.

The members of the task force would start working immediately with the Congress-headed governments to mitigate the daily distress and sufferings of the people, it added.

According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday, there are 873 coronavirus cases and. While 19 people have died from Covid-19, 78 have recovered or discharged from the hospital.

Covid-19 has spread to 103 districts in 27 states and Union Territories.
