Mumbai: Kannada Sangha celebrates 456th festival of Purandaradasa

Mumbai, Feb 25: Kannada Sangha here celebrated 456th devotional celebrations of Purandaradasa at Mysuru association mini hall, Matunga on Sunday evening, Feb 23.

Office bearers lighted the lamp. Competitions of devotional singing were held where several multilingual musicians took part. Vidwan T N Ashok was the judge. Asha Kulkarni and team sang Purandaradasa’s poems.

Kannadiga Kalavidara Parishat Maharastra president Dr Surendra Kumar Hegde was present as the chief guest.

Vice-president of the Sangha, Dr S K Bhavani welcomed the gathering and Chitrarath and Harshita sang prayers. G S Nayak gave an introduction and Sathish N Bangera, secretary introduced the guests. Rajendra Gadiyar read the list of winners and Narmada Kini read the list of scholarship recipients.

Joint secretary Somanath S Karkera compered the programme and treasurer Sudhaker C Poojary rendered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded after Maha Mangalarathi and distribution of Prasadam.
