Devotees screened for COVID-19 ahead of Kartarpur gurdwara visit

New Delhi, Feb 24 (IANS): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday that devotees travelling to Kartarpur in Pakistan to pay obeisance at the Darbar Sahib gurdwara there were screened for novel coronavirus on the India-Pakistan border.

"Update on#Novelcoronavirus: Glimpses of screening of people at Kartarpur for symptoms of COVID-19," the ministry tweeted, tagging pictures of screening centres established for the purpose.

The 4.1 km Kartarpur corridor has been constructed from Dera Baba Nanak town in Gurdaspur district of Indian Punjab to the Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara in Shakargarh tehsil of Narowal district in Pakistan.

The Ministry said that field surveillance was on in various states to screen people arriving from COVID-affected regions across the world.
