J&K artisans showcase handmade products at Noida trade show


Jammu, Feb 22 (IANS): Continuing its efforts to provide sustained marketing platforms for the promotion of business for hand-made products from Jammu and Kashmir, the state Handicrafts Department has sponsored 30 registered artisans and weavers for participation at the trade show in Noida, Uttar Pradesh which commenced on Saturday, officials said.

As many as 30 stalls have been booked by the Handicrafts Department in the high-end exhibition, organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the artisans from Jammu and Kashmir are expecting an overwhelming response to the products which will be on sale and display.

During the 10-day exhibition, the artisans will get an opportunity to showcase their exquisite range of products including silk carpets, pashmina and kani shawls, paper mache, crewel and sozni embroidery, which hold huge sway in domestic and international markets.

The trade show will also provide an opportunity to artisans to reach a larger number of people and customers and also for directly connecting with the buyers interested in vintage crafts from Jammu and Kashmir.

Expos like Noida Trade enable the artisans to make a fair assessment of the buyers' demands and the need to further diversify and design innovate to expand their business and penetrate newer unexplored markets.

The Noida Trade Show will end on March 1.
