Mangaluru: Veeer Foundation initiative to transform young leaders for social construction

Mangaluru, Feb 22: To bring out the hidden talents of the students through art, VEEER Foundation (an active NGO which follows a peaceful environment as their motto) on February 18 joined hands with the PG department of Journalism and Communication of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women organizing the national level Art Competition with Art for Peace as their theme.

The objective of conducting events like these was to transform students into community leaders for social construction.

Students from St Aloysius College, Canara College and Besant Women's College here, participated and won third prize and three consolation prizes.



Lakshman Rohit Maradappa, a young leader of the International Olympic Committee, Dhamayanthi N, associate vice-president of HCL Technologies Limited and Rajendran R, founder and director of Dessin Academy, Rohan Shiri national president of Veeer Foundation graced the occasion.

Nearly 2000+ students from 20 colleges from all over India including Andaman and Nicobar Islands participated, and 200 students were shortlisted for the final level. Students put up their peace and spent three hours to share their creativity through painting.

By this, M Surendar, student of Avichi College, Chennai, won the first prize of Rs 25,000 by beautifully portraying peace vs war, K Sarveshwaran, a student from St Thomas College, Chennai won the second prize of Rs 10,000 and Ovin D'Souza, a student from St Aloysius College, Mangaluru won the third prize of Rs 5,000.

After the event, the participants shared their thoughts as below:
"This competition helped us to think about the world's condition and how everyone should behave and react when crisis arise."

Students expressed their creativity to match the theme ‘Art for Peace’.

Surendar, a student from Avichi College, Chennai, received the first prize from the chief guest, Dhamayanthi N, vice-president of HCL Technologies Ltd.

The first prize winner narrated the theme of his painting to the audience.

The winners of the national level art competition happily exhibited their artwork to the audience.
