Udupi, Jan 29: District police department did not grant permission to hold Padayathra organized as part of protest meeting to be held on January 30, said Amrith Shenoy, president of Sahabalve Udupi.

He was speaking at a press meet organised on Tuesday, January 28 at Don Bosco hall, near Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi here. He said, “We have decided to hold padayathra from near SP Office Bannanje to Christian High School ground Udupi.

“The protest is against Central government laws like Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Registry of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). We have requested police department to give permission to hold peaceful protest march, but they have refused. The meet will begin at 4 pm. People of India should talk against the Central government’s newly implemented Acts. We, the citizens of India, should criticise and condemn the mistakes made by the government. It is hitting the original theme of Constitution of India. Does it control the harassment happening on Indians living in Pakistan? The government is imposing its law by force. It is wasting time in implementation of unnecessary laws, which are not useful.”

Ramesh Kanchan, general correspondent, said, “District BJP held signature campaign in favour of CAA on Paryaya occasion. It was a religious programme, and BJP leaders were busy doing politics. They insulted the religious programme. They should have used such an auspicious occasion this way.”

Yogish Shetty, JD(S) district president, said “All these bills are against Indian Constitution and ruling party are committed to implementing it by ignoring all interests of people.”

The main speaker will be Chandrasekhar Azad, founder and Bhim Army leader.

They cant protest, they have to work like dogs under politicians supervision, 24 hrs of duty, no proper facilities, houses provided.. if one sees their quarters its worst... for the work they do they have to be paid much better than the mnc employees... only then taking bribe will stop... poor guys even they have a life and even they want their kids and family to lead a luxury life like everyone. Who does not want their kids to go to English medium and who does not want thier family to have luxury life.... same way even they want.. so obviously they will take bribe. its not their fault.. its the govt fault.. these police and military men are paid half the work they do...
