Mangaluru: National seminar on 'Debating Gandhi' to be held at St Aloysius College on Jan 29

Mangaluru, Jan 28: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) here in association with Nehru Chintana Kendra, Mangalore University- Konaje will hold a national seminar titled 'Debating Gandhi' on Wednesday January 29 at Sanidhya hall of St Aloysius College from 9.45 am to 4 pm to commemorate 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi and to conclude week-long programmes of the constitution week.

The inaugural programme is scheduled between 10 am to 11 am.

Prof B K Chandrashekhar, former education minister, Government of Karnataka will deliver the inaugural address. Prof P S Yadapadithaya, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University, will be the chief guest. The programme will be presided over by Fr Dionysius Vas, SJ, rector, St Aloysius institutions and Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal will grace the session. Prof A M Khan, registrar Mangalore University will be present.

The eminent scholars, Prof Rajendra Chenni, director MCC, Shivamogga, Professor Valerian Rodrigues, former professor, Centre for Political Studies, JNU, New Delhi, Professor Vivek Dhareshwar, Scholar in Residence, Bengaluru will make the thematic presentations.

The afternoon session will have eminent speakers and young students of the college as panellists chaired by Prof P Shripathi Tantri, former Prof of Sociology and former syndicate member of Mangalore University.

A lecture titled 'Dr Ambedkar and the Indian Constitution by Professor Valerian Rodrigues is scheduled from 3 pm to 4 pm for the teaching faculty as a finale of the week-long programmes of the constitution week observance. For more details, contact:
