Panaji: Task force on coronavirus formed in Goa - Vishwajit Rane

Panaji, Jan 27: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Sunday gave directions to his department to form a special task force to monitor any cases of coronavirus in the state.

Rane said that he has given instructions to form a task force with immediate effect to monitor any cases of coronavirus in the state of Goa.

“All the activities including people arriving from the virus affected region would be closely monitored and reported to State Chief Secretary,” he said.

The minister said that the task force will work on the guidelines laid down by Union Ministry of Health.

The coronavirus is a large family of viruses that causes illness ranging from the common cold to acute respiratory syndromes, but the virus in China is a novel strain and not seen before. It has killed 26 people so far, and has caused alarm because of its similarity to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).
