Indian missions celebrate Republic Day in UAE


Abu Dhabi, Jan 26 (IANS): Indian missions across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) celebrated the 71st Republic Day on Sunday.

In Abu Dhabi, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Pavan Kapoor hoisted the tricolour in the Embassy premises, reports Gulf News.

Vipin, the Consul General of India in Dubai, unfurled the tricolour and hoisted the flag at the Consulate.

The heads of the missions also read out Indian President Ram Nath Kovind's Republic Day address.

Dressed in traditional attire, hundreds of Indian expats attended the official celebrations at the missions.

After the flag hoisting ceremony at the Consulate, the expats sang their national anthem.

Cultural performances were also held as part of the celebrations.

Celebrations are being held in Indian schools, associations and offices across the UAE as well.
