Mangaluru: Two held for intoxicating, robbing, railway passenger

Mangaluru, Jan 25: Two persons, who have been accused of mixing some intoxicating substance to tea served to a railway passenger at the central station here and robbing their belongings after they fell unconscious, were arrested by the railway police on Friday, January 24.

The arrested accused are Yakub (37) from Karnur Naganadka in Nettaniga Mudnoor village in Puttur taluk, and Mohammed (35) from Palathady in Karnur. On being produced in the court, they were remanded to14 days judicial custody.

It is said that the two had offered tea mixed with intoxicants to a passenger on the night of August 22, 2019 in the train. After the passenger fell unconscious, they had taken away valuable assets belonging to them. During the questioning of the arrested accused, some of the assets were recovered.
