Bantwal, Jan 24: Padmanabha Rao, veteran photographer, artiste, proprietor of Pallavi Studio, passes away on Thursday, January 23.

Fondly known as Padmanna, 63-year-old Rao, was sick since the last few months and was taken to the house of his relatives in Gadag in view of the sickness where he passed away on Thursday.

Rao, who had studied till PUC, was a bank employee. He took up photography after resigning to his bank job.

He got into the profession by black and white photography in 1984 and saw several ups and downs of in it. He became president of Bantwal Photographers’ Association and received several felicitations. He was well known to everybody by his social activities. He has acted in several dramas.

Rao’s Pallavi Studio has given shelter to several artistes and political persons. It converted many people into photographers.

He was the elder brother of teacher and programme anchor Ramachandra Rao and has left behind wife, two sons and a daughter.

MLA Rajesh Naik Ulipadiguthu, former minister B Ramanatha Rai, press club president Prashanth Punjalkatte, Mohan B, photographers’ association district president Sridhar Shettigar, taluk president Kumaraswamy and others have expressed their condolences on his demise.
