‘I surrendered at DG-IGP office to get big publicity’ – Mangaluru bomb case accused Adithya Rao

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 23: It is said that during his questioning, Adithya Rao, accused of planting a bomb in the rest area of the international airport at Mangaluru, claimed that he planned this act as a means to fulfill his desire to be widely known across the country. He also reportedly stated that he planned to surrender at the office of the director general and inspector general of police (DG-IGP) purely to gain in terms of huge publicity.

In normal course, after committing crime, the criminals try to run away from the clutches of law. In some cases, they might surrender at the police station or court. Adithya's plan was to become popular and therefore he chose to surrender at the DG-IGP office, police sources said, quoting answers provided by Rao to the questions.

Halasuru Gate police station personnel, who took custody of the accused who had surrendered and confessed that he had indeed planted the explosive, questioned him at the police station. During this period, Adithya is said to have justified his action.

Adithya told them that after his photos and CCTV footage were widely published and circulated, he was certain to get arrested. "I thought it would be better if I surrender on my own. But I desired to see that my name gets wide recognition. As surrendering at Mangaluru would not have got that much attention and publicity, he said he came to Bengaluru to get more famous.

The police said they have not seen an accused or criminal directly approaching the DG-IGP office to surrender.

Rao had left Mangaluru on Monday night. After reaching Shivamogga, he went to Bengaluru by a lorry. On Tuesday morning, he presented himself at the office of director general and inspector general of police on Tuesday morning. He was questioned at Halasuru Gate police station, and he was subjected to medical tests in the afternoon. After he was produced in the first ACMM court, he was handed over to Mangaluru police through transit warrant. Rao was taken to Mangaluru by 7.30 pm flight. He is now in city crime branch office, and is likely to be produced in the court on Thursday.

looks like he surely has a mental problem. A misguided youth. So educated yet behaving like an uneducated youth. He has a mental issue. He beingworked in security before was sure he was going to get arrested. His family left him becuase of his behaviour He needs thorough couselling and treatment May the polcie should make him understand good moral values. Though wht he did is a crime he desrevs little biy symphathy because he has a mental problem. I am sure police can reform him and make him a better person who will care for society and his family

For me this guy reminds of Bikini Killer Shobharaj. He is also well-educated and speaks softly as per the reports that I have read about him.

If the police fail to keep this guy behind the bars, they will be taking a huge risk like they took with Dr Jalees, who was a master bomb maker from Mumbai.

But with balatkari party in power in the state and centre, it seems this guy will get at the most three months of imprisonment

    Most mysterious man indeed.
Police simply cannot take all such narrative as a justification for his act.

In the mean time, whatever he has done would send a right signal to the government to realize the bad consequences of unemployment in the country.

Better stop challenging, chasing , criticizing the opposite party and take a serious step to improve employment situation.
From all his explanation it is understood that it was a threat for publicity and the bomb was deliberately not connected properly with the timer.
