Udupi: Complete project to supply water to Varahi before deadline – S L Dharemegowda

Udupi, Jan 22: “Complete the work of supplying water to Udupi from Varahi river within the due date,” said deputy chairman of Karnataka Legislative council and president of Vidhan Parishad application committee, S L Dharmegowda.

He was speaking in Udupi DC office after holding discussions with committee members regarding the project. He asked to construct village roads only after laying water pipelines. “Make sure that the benefits of project worth nearly Rs 300 crore reach the residents of Udupi at least for next fifty years,” he said.

“Submit details of the progress every 3 months. The committee will visit the district again after six months to sort out issues if any. The officials have informed the committee that clean drinking water will be provided before 2022. The officials have been asked to take up works of water resources department and small irrigation department that are pending,” he said.

Karnataka Vidhan Parishad application committee member MLA S V Sunkanoor, Mari Thibbegowda, Prakash Rathod, Raghunath Malkapur, P R Ramesh, Mohan Kondaji, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh, KUIDFC’s M D Charulatha, SP Vishnuvardhan, DFO Kamala, Rudran, Kundapur sub divisional officer Raju, additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, Varahi irrigation, urban development and forest officials were present.
