Bengaluru, Dec 11: Mosques in Karnataka have given call to Muslims to keep their documents up-to-date. The guideline is believed to be issued against the backdrop of Centre making it clear that the NRC (National Register of Citizens) will be rolled out across India before 2024 polls.
Three months ago, Bengaluru’s Jamia Masjid opened a 'Citizen Centre' to assist people to keep documents ready and to rectify anomalies. "It is essential for every citizen of India to keep their documents up to date. Keeping that in view, an effort has been made through the Jamia Masjid where we are asking Muslims to properly maintain their records," Maqsood Imran, the Imam of Jamia Masjid in Bengaluru told media.

He further added that people are asked to check documents such as Aadhaar, PAN Card, Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and other documents. If any differences and mistakes are found, people are asked to rectify the same on priority.
However, Imran claims that the guidelines are not issued in the backdrop of the anticipated NRC, but as a measure to help people to set right documents to avoid any problems in future.
He also points out that infiltration is not an issue in South India and hence, there is nothing to get scared of or worried about the NRC.
