Mangaluru: Aren Fernandes earns gold at Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship in Kazakhstan

Mangaluru, Dec 10: Aren Joy Fernandes, won Gold for India in Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship held on December 4 at Kazakhstan, sub-junior category, his first-ever international competition.

Aren won a gold medal in Squat with a total of 180 kg and a silver medal in Deadlift with a total of 215 kg.

His total in Bench press is 97.5 kg. The overall total is 492.5 kg, entitling him to win gold.

Other achievements of Aren Joy Fernandes in Powerlifting for 2019 are:

  • State Powerlifting held at Puttur, won gold in the sub-junior category.
  • State Powerlifting, held at Kundapur, won gold in sub-junior category and bronze in junior category.
  • Equipped National Powerlifting, held at Chennai, won Silver in Sub Junior Category.
  • Raw National Power Lifting, held in Kerala, won Silver in the sub-junior category and created a National Dead Lift record.
  • VTU Powerlifting, held at Nitte Engineering College, won gold in sub-junior category, Strong Man and created Four VTU records.
  • Equipped State Bench Press, held at Kudroli, won gold in sub-junior category and bronze in senior category.

Aren is a first-year student of St Joseph's Engineering College studying Electronics And Communication Engineering.
He is currently training at Sadhguru Fitness Gym under the guidance of coach, Pradeep Kumar.
