Udupi, Dec 9: After BJP swept the bypolls by winning 12 out of 15 seats, a victory celebration was held in front of district BJP office at Kadiyali on Monday, December 9.

Speaking at the victory celebrations, Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat said it is not only the victory of BJP but entire 6.5 crore Kannadigas. “We have won today by bringing back BJP into power. Under CM B S Yediyurappa’s leadership, for the first time full-fledged BJP government has been formed. Congress and JD(S) had mocked at BJP stating that MLAs were disqualified and BJP’s dream to gain power in Karnataka is impossible. But today, those MLAs have answered to the comments by winning in the election and have also contributed for the formation of full-fledged BJP government,” he said. He further added that under the leadership of BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, this is the second election BJP has won and it clearly shows his leadership skills.

Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, BJP Udupi district president, addressed the BJP workers on this occasion and stated that 17 MLAs who were fed up with the bad governance of JD(S) and Congress government, resigned their posts and as a result the Congress and JD(S) government had lost their power. In the bypoll elections, out of 15 seats, BJP has won 12 seats which makes 117 total seats and hence BJP will be back to power for the remaining tenure of a quarter and 3 years. “BJP had never won in Mandya, but today with the hard work of party workers, even in K R Pete, BJP has won and the credit completely goes to the party workers," said Hegde.

Sweets were distributed to the party workers and the public and crackers were burnt to symbolize the BJP’s victory. Yashpal Suvarna, Naveen Shetty Kutyar, Prakash Shetty Padebettu and Raghavendra Kini were present on this occasion.
