Kabul, Dec 7: Mia Khan, a resident of Sharana in Afghanistan, has won hearts of netizens for his tireless efforts to educate his daughters. Reportedly, Khan travels 12 km along with his daughters to their school. The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, an NGO that works in the region, run the Nooriya school where Khan's daughters study. They have stated that Khan travels by his motorbike and even waits outside for a few hours until the classes are dismissed.
When asked the reason for his dedication to educating his daughters, he stated that since there are no female doctors in their area, he realised the need for his girls to be educated.
"I am illiterate, and I live on daily wage, but my daughter's education is very valuable to me because there is no female doctor in our area," he said. "It is my greatest desire to educate my daughters like my sons", Khan added.
A Facebook post about Khan and his daughters garnered several 'likes' and appreciative comments for his deed.
One of the social media users wrote, "Proud of such fathers... He is a hero,"
Rozi, one of Khan's three daughters, says that she is happy that she can study. "I am in grade six this year. My dad or brother brings us on a motorcycle every day to the school and when we leave, they bring us back home again," she said.
