Howrah, Dec 6: In a heinous crime reported from Howrah, a nine-month-old baby girl was allegedly raped by her uncle on Thursday.
The man identified as Anup Pramanik is a resident of Bargram panchayat of Shyampur in Howrah district. Pramanik who lives in the neighbourhood allegedly took the infant out on Wednesday, on account of buying the baby some toys.
Incidentally, when the man returned with the infant, the family members noticed the baby bleeding and approached the police.
Following the incident, the family registered a complaint at Shyampur police station. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act against the accused.
The police officials have arrested the accused and investigations are underway.
