Poingunim, Nov 17: Over 200 fishermen were grateful to Canacona MLA who fast-tracked the process of removing a makeshift bridge. The fishermen at Palolem were troubled by the wooden bridge which was obstructing their path of course.

The Canacona MLA directed the Canacona police and the deputy collector to act swiftly over the removal of the bridge by Saturday.

"The fishermen are at ease today. Our MLA was very prompt to the request of the fishermen in asking the concerned authorities to act," said one of the locals.

On Wednesday, the bridge was constructed using bamboos and planks to make way for the tourists from Palolem to the other side at Ranchival during the low tide. This caused a hindrance to the canoes anchored in this creek for several decades.
