Kundapur, Nov 16: A group of miscreants sprayed chemical compound on a student on the way to his school and fled when the student became unconscious. The incident took place on Gommola road, Belve gram panchayat limits here on Saturday morning, November 16.

The victim was Harshith (10), fifth standard student, son of the elder brother of former Belve gram panchayat president Udayakumar Poojary. Harshith was walking to the school from home on Saturday morning as usual. It is said that a blue colored Omni car had stopped near the house of Pradeep Shetty about two furlongs away from the health center.

As Harshith reached there, those in the car had offered to drop him to the school. As Harshith refused their offer, those in the car turned the car towards him. They sprayed an unknown chemical on the face of the student that made the boy lose his senses and fall on the road.

Those in the car fled when they saw somebody approaching the spot. Local people gathered and took him to local health center where he was administered first aid.

Shankernarayana station police visited and conducted spot inspection. The boy was treated at Hebri hospital and the sample of spray was sent to the laboratory for tests, it is said.
