"There is a tradition in the Tulunadu of having the new rice after harvest with celebration. 'Puddar Vanas' celebration is very apt in these time to increase harmony, which is absent in today's society. It is also heartening to note that people belonging to various castes in the coastal districts are united as one in the capital city under the Tulukoota. This will set a good example for the younger generation and also Bengalureans."

Speaking on the occasion Tulu religious thinker P K Sadananda said, "Only when the traditions and celebrations of Tulunadu are made known to the younger generation through programmes like this, the will know the hardship their ancestors have gone through. Tulukoota is holding this programme every year in a disciplined manner."

Timmanarasa Dr Padmaraja Ajila of Aladangadi Aramane said, "This is not just a lunch or get together. This is a celebration that depicts the culture of Tulunadu. This is also an event of introducing the culture of Tulunadu to people of other regions."

Udayaraj Shetty and Sukesh Amin, who have achieved great feat in sports and poet Shantaram were felicitated on the occasion.

Most of the religions celebrate Hosa Akki Oota... the why only separate land to tulukoota???
I'm not against giving a land to tuluvas but why discrimination??? Please don't devide religions in the name of politics. We're are all people of tulunadu and secular in nature.

Why land in a place which has no water ? Stop this quota system completely. Instead everyone should work on improving facilities and connectivity to Mangalore.

I guess a superfast train from Mangalore to Bangalore in 6 to 7 hours is a better gift to Tuluvas than anything else! At least 3 to 4 some during day! We already have a running track for years and its almost useless. Do some research and help the common man tax payers....make their life slightly easy! Only talks are not going to work!!

True, They know its an easy win in the name of god! More over Karavali people are soft and not arrogant like north. They have been ignoring DK for last 20 years. Live example is NH 66 condition after the Toll loot!! He is talking to divert from real DK problems....look at Sakleshpur road....8 hours traffic jam due to bad road and trucks are getting stuck in the potholes! Trucks are also paying due tax...they too need healthy roads...can we survive without trucks and buses???
