D K Shivakumar owns more than 300 properties 'illegally' - ED opposes bail

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Oct 18: So far the citizens of India have heard triple centuries only in the game of cricket. But now former minister and senior leader of state Congress D K Shivakumar has created history by scoring the first triple century by reportedly being the owner of 300 different properties from illegally acquired wealth.

The information with regards to the number of properties was disclosed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi high court during presenting its opposition to the bail application of Shivakumar. Arguing for the ED, additional solicitor general K M Nataraj said that if D K Shivakumar is granted bail in the midst of such a crucial investigation, he is sure to threaten or influence the witnesses and also destroy or tamper with the evidences.

Nataraj further alleged that D K Shivakumar amassed huge wealth through misappropriation of funds using his position as a public servant. All the properties are bought in order to convert the black money into legal currency.

On the other end, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the tainted Shivakumar said that the passport of Shivakumar is with the police so there is no chance that his client will run away from the country. Singhvi also brought to the notice of the court that Shivakumar needs to be given bail as he is in the prison since one and a half month.

Justice Kait, who patiently heard the arguments from both the sides has kept his decision pending. The investigating officer was allowed to approach the dais and explain the documents that are collected against the accused D K Shivakumar to the court.

Additional solicitor general (ASG) K M Nataraj, representing ED did not appear when he was called for the first time. He was admonished for the same by the court. The case was fixed for 3.30 pm, but the ASG could not appear as he was arguing some other case in another court.

Justice Kait, who was visibly upset with ASG said that the behaviour of the ASG is not at all acceptable as the court cannot be made to wait for him. The hearing was delayed by half an hour for the same reason.

Though Justice Kait asked the ED to file a written submission by 12 pm of Saturday, October 19, he changed his mind and permitted the ED to present its arguments when ADG Nataraj arrived late and apologised for the delay.

When anyone in position everybody will praise. But when we lost? Only ourselves when we in great position and good wealth just be silent and think about ourselves. Enjoy the life. But shivakumar fought for his party and shown courage and delayed horsetrading from opposition party.

Without doubt, should this man not only not given bail, he should rot in jail for the rest of his life. This will send a strong message to the politicians that India is not for grabs. Merely winning elections and becoming a minister is not a licence to loot the country. We have to show such politicians the door if we have to progress. His wealth should be confiscated and distributed among the people. In this same breath, I would like to reiterate that there are many corrupt culprits hiding in the BJP and some have also been given ministerial berths in the present state government. Why has the government not gone after them and why are they allowed to roam free? Why one set of rules for Shivkumar and why another for the BJ|P corrupts?

Because this is done not to clean India from corrupt, rather to break the strongest muscleman from opposition morally and mentally. If it was done to clean India , lots of corrupt from bjp would also come out from the hideout. No doubt those who loot public money should not be spared , but this is just targetting politicians from one party.Sure you may show your clout and escape law here but how will you escape tbe wrath and law of Almighty.
