Intoxicated man drowns in Benaulim beach, recovered by lifeguard

Colva, Oct 16: A body of a man was recovered by Dristhi lifeguards on Monday after he died of drowning at Benaulim beach. Reportedly, the deceased, Manish Shanke (32), drowned on a late Sunday night.
 
After being drunk at a restaurant, the victim and his friend went to the Benaulim beach where they passed out. When the friend woke up the next morning, Shanke was reported missing.
 
 
The lifeguard who recovered Shanke's body claimed that he spotted it floating about 100 metres away from the shore. Once he pulled him out of the water, he took Shanke to the hospital. But, the doctors were unable to save Shanke.
