Bengaluru: Flood-hit people in distress - CM, DCM, busy with electioneering

Bengaluru, Oct 16: At a time when the flood-affected people are waiting for government assistance, the state leaders are busy canvassing for party candidates in neighbouring state, Maharashtra.

Assembly election is being held in Maharasthra next month. BJP central leaders have given responsibility of canvassing for votes for the party in border areas to leaders from Karnataka. Therefore, chief minister (CM), B S Yediyurappa and deputy chief minister (DCM) Laxman Savadi, are busy addressing election meetings in border areas.

Many have criticized these two leaders for overlooking the problems of the suffering in their home state.

Laxman Savadi is from Athani. He has sway over a big chunk of votes in the border areas falling under Maharashtra. It is said that he was made deputy chief minister, taking into account his role for making BJP candidates win in border region. It is believed that he will stay put there till the election process is completed. This has drawn ire of several leaders who have criticized the leaders for getting busy with canvassing instead of providing solace to the suffering people of Karnataka.

The office of the CM said that Yediyurappa will be busy with electioneering and addressing party meets in border areas perceivably to attract votes of Lingayat voters and Yediyurappa fans. It is said that in the coming days, there is possibility of utilizing the services of deputy chief minister, C N Ashwath Narayan and Govind Karjol for attracting dalit votes.
