Chitradurga: Tempo traveller plunges into gorge - Seven dead

Chitradurga, Oct 16: In a ghastly accident which happened on Tuesday October 15 at Maredumilli - Chintoor ghat region of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, people travelling by a Tempo Traveller passenger vehicle plunged into a gorge when negotiating ghat road bend. In this accident, seven persons from the district died. 

The tragedy happened at 10.30 am on Tuesday. All the deceased were from Challakere in the district, the police said. 

The deceased were part of a 25-member pilgrimage group. The deceased were Gayatramma, Ramalaxmi, Geethalaxmi, Rudrakshamma, Srinivas, Vani, and Ramesh. It is learnt that seven persons were injured in the accident, and all of them were from Gandhinagar in Challakere. This particular vehicle had 14 people. 

The entourage had visited Bhadrachalam from Chitradurga. After visiting the temple, they were moving towards Annavaram in East Godavari district when tragedy struck. The accident happened at Valmiki Konda on Maredumilli - Chintoor ghat.
