Mangalore: Naushad Murder: Senior advocate Repeats Murder Accusation against Policemen

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 21:  Senior advocate Purushottam Poojary, whose close associate and advocate Naushad Kashimji was murdered in the city on April 9 this year, reiterated his earlier charge that the policemen had killed Naushad. "Not even in the case of the assassinations of Father of Nation Gandhiji and former USA president John F Kennedy, had there been an attempt to eliminate the defending lawyers. My junior lawyer Naushad was killed mercilessly by the policemen," he said in front of the media persons, when he had come to SDM Law College on Friday July 20, to take part in a press conference.

Poojary spelt out his resolve to continue his fight against this injustice, even after the High Court held his allegations against the protectors of law to be baseless. "I will directly charge in my next complaint that the policemen had committed this murder. I will seek interrogation of four policemen including a district bureau of criminal intelligence inspector," he added.

"The policemen knew the telephone number of Naushad. They also were aware that the family of Naushad was away in Bhatkal to attend a marriage and Kashimji was alone at home. There is no doubt that the policemen killed him," he stressed.

Fake Encounter:

Relating to the murder of Sukhanand Shetty, the policemen killed Mulky Rafiq, Atiq and David in fake encounters, Puruhottam Poojary alleged and stressed that the policemen were nurturing a grouse against Naushad for repeatedly proving that the policemen were involved with acts amounting to violation of human rights.

"Naushad Kashimji had studied in SDM Law College. He learnt the tricks of the profession fast and climbed up the ladder quickly. Even I often sought information from him about the human rights in the eyes of law. Several students got assistance from him to continue their studies," he added.

There is no doubt that the 4 policemen where involved in the murder of the innocent lawyer.I ask Gopal Hosur if he is defending these 4 policemen in his department. No doubt the DK police is committing illegal encounters in the name of policing.

Dear Mr.Raj, please Don’t compare Naushad with International Terror Ajamal Kasab. Mr. Purshottam is a well-known Sr. Lawyer in Mangalore. Nawshad was worked under Mr. Purushottam, that’s why he wants to fight against injustice. Not only Nawshad’s Murder Case, the police has powerful role in all attacks on minorities which is going since 1 year in South Canara.

We the Muslims of this region do feel proud that late lawyer Mr Naushad Kashimji had his senior Mr Purushottam Poojaryji as his godfather. Late Naushad was an honest lawyer. There should be more such lawyers to fight against atrocities committed on the poor and marginal citizens. It is good to witness that persons like Purushottam Poojaryji are still there to guide the young lawyers of today to fight against unjust in the society.

I appreciate the efforts of Mr Purshotham Poojary. Mangalore police act like they are representing RSS member, not only the four Puroshottam Poojary has accused of. Mr Naushad murder case has not only the involvement of police, but also of government.

According to Advocate, Mulky Rafiq and Atiq were killed in fake enconter. Whether they were killed in fake or real encounters, those notorious criminals should have died. Otherwise they would have killed many innocent people for money. Do you know that Inspector Daya Nayak and Vijay Salskar killed more than 100 criminals irrespective of their religion or gang (Dawood/Rajan). Was it a fake encounters ? (Daiji..Inspector Salskar was killed by Ajmal Kasab along with Hemant Karkere). Because of encounter fear only these maifia groups are  delaying thier killings. Last month in Bangalore, police killed rowdy Parandhama in an encounter ( Parndhama killed another rowdy in front of his mother and wife at Lalbagh). Encounter is a clear message to all criminals that they will be finished.

Senior lawyer poojary repeating his accusation against the same officers, unforunatley they are investigating this murder. So his request for an independent enquiry is fair because the slain lawyer was his junior. He has the right to demand the same.

This high profile case should be handed over to the CBI, especially after such serious allegations have been made by a renowned senior advocate like Mr Purshottam Poojary. In any case this issue once again casts serious doubts on the credibility of the Mangalore Police.

There is no harm in conducting an enquiry into the accusations made by Mr Poojary through an independent committee as the accusations are serious in nature.

I think now Senior advocate Purushottam Poojary is acting under pressure from the underworld. May be even Naushad Kashimji is totally involved with the underworld. Naushad's murder is nothing but due to gang rivalry. It's now a closed chapter.'Bhatkal' for long has been considered a safe haven for illegal activites.
