Three wives, 15 children - this man is ready for more

Lakhimpur (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 23 (IANS): As the nation is raising its concerns over rising population, Mohd Sharif could not care less. With three wives and 15 children, he heads what he says is the "biggest family in this district". His entire family lives together in Baudhiyan Kalan village that has a total population of 6,000.

Sharif says he was 14 when he first got married to Jatta Begum in 1987.

He has three sons and five daughters with his first wife.

"I met Noor and married her sometime in the nineties. She has given me four daughters and one son. In 2000, I married Tarannum Begum, a Nepalese and she has given me one son and one daughter," he says.

Interestingly, Sharif confesses that he does not remember the names of all his children.

"I go for a headcount every evening to ensure that all of them are home," he says.

His eldest son is 24-years old and the youngest daughter is 2-years old.

"I am blessed to have such a loving family, where all stay together, even the wives. I never came across a situation where my children or wives argue with one another," he says.

An agricultural labourer by profession, Mohd Sharif firmly believes that "If Allah sends us to earth, he ensures that no one sleeps on an empty stomach."

Sharif says he often gets food grains instead of wages and this keeps the family going.

He has recently applied for three accommodations under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna for his three wives.

Sharif is unaware of family planning programmes and insists that children are gifts from God. "I would be happy if I had more," he says.

This guy is a faithful follower of Islamic law which permits multiple wives. Until that law is changed, good luck to society and population explosion. It was alright in the 19th and early 20th century when individual communities wanted to increase their kind, but there will be a communal imbalance before long which will ultimately affect the rule of the country and majority government. May be that will take a hundred years!

Pure case of Lack of Societal Responsibility
But this person should be given wide publicity as the role model why population explosion is taking place in India
Now he is not seeing any problem because many children are small .This fellow cannot give quality education ,Quality health care etc then he will understand what mistake he did

I cannot totally disagree with your logic.
Entertainment or pre-occupied with daily commitments makes us pass time . But having multiple wives and ever engaged in production line will not solve day to day problems. It's lack of education and lack of proper understanding . Alsso, partly due to Ushna (Beef consumption)

    @ Sampath
Being an Indian my duty is to talk only about my countries well being and awareness on ever exploding population growth. By the way why you are so concerned about Kuwait governments decision making. ?

Sharif says "If Allah sends us to earth, he ensures that no one sleeps on an empty stomach.".

I wonder why he should apply for any Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna benefits.

Or, is Allah's benevolence limited only to food?

    Strange human being.
Being a labourer by profession he still has energy to entertain three wives.
Government must bring some law to restrict such multi wives culture and must also stop issuing ration cards or any provisions to help such guys. (take for instance, China's policy)
