Kundapur: Highway Jagriti committee warns of huge protest demanding service road

Kundapur, Sep 23: A meeting was organized at the Gurunarasimha auditorium at Saligrama on Sunday, September 22 to plan for a huge protest under the leadership of National Highway Jagriti Samiti in association with Saligrama Service Road Horata Samiti to demand service road from Kota to Mabukala and other demands.

Speaking on the occasion, president of Pratap Shetty Sastana said, "We have found success in the toll gate issue. But we need to fight for the service road, which is important for us. Today's meeting is called in that context. Because of no service road from Kota to Mabukala, public is facing grave danger from the motorists and the number of accidents are increasing day by day.

"We need a proper service road. This need is to be addressed first, then you put toll on us. A huge protest march will be held on September 30 from Kota to Mabukala to intensify our demand for the service road."

Shyam Sundar Nayiri, president of Saligrama Service Road Horata Samiti, Vittal Poojari Irodi and Alwyn Andre of National Highway Jagriti Samiti, Rajesh Kavery, president of District Lorry Owners' Association and others were present in the meeting.

The programme was compered by Prashant Shetty Pandeshwar of highway jagriti samiti. It is estimated that three to five thousand people will take part in the protest march on September 30.
