Bengaluru: Trio on bike without helmet knock down traffic constable

Bengaluru, Sep 23: Three youngsters riding a bike without wearing helmet knocked down the traffic constable who intercepted them for violating the traffic rule.

The constable who is injured in this incident is Guruswami D C (29) of Malleswaram police station. He was discharging his duties near the office of C N Ashwath Narayan, DCM at 11th Cross, fourth main of Malleswaram in the city.

Suheb Khan (19), who was riding the bike at the time of the incident and two pillions, both 17-year-old have been arrested by the police in this connection. They are residents of M D Block Malleswaram.

Constable Guruswami noticed the trio on the bike without a helmet at around 5 pm on Saturday, September 21 and waved at them to stop the bike to book a ticket. However, the trio came near the policeman as if they are going to stop the bike and suddenly knocked him down and sped away.

The miscreant trio was intercepted by an autorickshaw driver, who was the eyewitness of the incident, who caught hold of the three youngsters with the help of some local people and took them to Malleswaram police station.

The constable, who has received injuries on his left hand and knee is being treated at a hospital in the city.
