Mangaluru: Shootout by youth Congress leader in Ullal - One injured

Mangaluru, Sep 23: A shootout incident happened at Kadappura Kiliriya Nagar near Ullal on late Sunday night and a local youth sustained injuries. 

It is said that the shootout was carried out by a group of seven people which included a youth Congress leader. The locals, who witnessed the incident, damaged the Innova car in which the miscreants had come. The car allegedly belongs to a former Congress MLA. 

The Innova car, driven by a person named Basheer, entered the residential locality of Kadappura Kiliriya Nagar. The car had seven people including youth Congress leader Suhail Kandak and the driver. Suhail Kandak got down from the car and fired in the air once and at the ground once.

At that time, the people who got angry started attacking Suhail with whatever objects they could get including planks and stones. Suhail fired three times again which hit the leg of local youth named Irshad (18). The local people started throwing stones at the car in which the miscreants had come. The car was badly damaged and Suhail Kandak and Basheer sustained injuries when the people attacked them. 

The miscreants fled from the scene while they could not face the people anymore. Suhail Kandak and Basheer have been admitted to a hospital in Thokkottu while Irshad has been admitted to a hospital in Deralakatte. 

As per sources, the Innova car used by the miscreants allegedly belongs to former Congress MLA Moideen Bawa. 

Ullal police have taken up the investigations.

Sufficient police personnel have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

As per police, the fight was between two groups. One group belonged to Suhail Kandak of Attavar and the second group comprised of Salman, Irshad and others belonging to Mukkacheri Kadapara in Ullal.

A licensed firearm belonging to Suhail Khandak was used during the clash and the police have recovered the weapon. 

The details of cases registered 

In this regard, two cases have been registered at Ullal police station which are under investigation. 

Ullal Police Station Crime No.106/2019 u/s 143, 147, 148, 149, 341, 504, 506, 326, 307 IPC r/w 3, 25 Indian Arms Act, 1959.

Complainant : Irshad S/o K K Iqbal, 20years, Kadapara, Kileriya Nagar, Mukkachery, Ullala.

Accused : Basheer, Suhail Kandak and others. 

Currently, Mohd Arshad Nizamuddin, Nizamuddin s/o Abdul Rahman, Toufiq Sheikh, Fahad, Afwan, are being investigated in this regard.

Complainant : Suhail Kandak alias Umar Farooq, S/o K Ahamad, resident of Suhail Manzil, Attavar, Mangaluru city

Accused : Salman and 10 others

Currently, Mohamad s/o Amir, Mohamad Wasim s/o Mohd Iqbal, Abdul Rahmatulla s/o Abdul Razzaq, Harshad s/o Iqbal, Muzammil s/o Ahmed, Raifan s/o Siddique, Mohd Siyab s/o Ashraf are being investigated in this regard.
